Axiom construction underwriters have specialized in this segment for over 15 years. Our program is designed for the small general including Residential Home Builders, Residential/Commerical contractor involved in remodeling and tenant improvements and Commercial Builders. Our target risks are contractors with less than $15,000,000 in annual receipts and less than $3,000,000 for any given project. Higher receipts and project values can be considered. No limitation on percentage of work subcontracted to others.

Target Classes Ineligible
In business for 3 years, or new ventures with 3 years experience in same contracting segment:
  • Commercial general contractors
  • Residential Home builders
  • Residential contractors
  • Residential remodelers
  • Condo/tract work up to 15 units new construction at one development (multifamily of 7-10 units can be considered)
  • Work on student housing, senior housing, assisted living facilities or retirement homes
  • More than 2 claims in 3 years
  • One or more construction defect claims
  • Exterior work more than 3 stories
  • Structural work including grading and excavation on slopes of greater than 30 degrees, or retaining wall exceeding 6 ft in height
  • Asbestos, mold or environmental remediation
  • Sales, installation, service or repair alarm systems, automatic fire extinguishing systems boilers, elevators, escalators, surveillance systems or TV monitoring systems either commercial or residential
  • Sales installation service or repair wood, coal or waste oil burning stoves
  • Sales or application of chemicals
  • Installation of Hurricane shutters
  • Work performed for petroleum, industrial or chemical facilities
  • Work on or for roof, swimming pool, elevator, airport, dock, railroad, traffic lights, underground tanks. skylights, Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems
  • Involved in bankruptcy in last 5 years
  • Involved in tunneling, recreational or playground construction
  • Perform or sublet demolition or blasting operations
  • Restoration work involving smoke, fire, water or earthquake
  • Open roof construction allowed, except new construction not certified for occupancy
  • Developers or Construction Managers
  • Felony conviction in last 5 years
  • Construction Managers

ZISO with the following form options:
  • Full Occurrence with no sunset clause, with fully insured subcontractors, is held harmless and named as an additional insured by the subcontractors, and maintains records for 5 years.
  • Occurrence with a 2 year sunset clause uses underinsured or uninsured subcontractors, and 2 year sunset provision provides adequate coverage.
  • Claims Made uses fully insured subcontractors, is held harmless and named as an additional insured by the subcontractors and maintains records for 5 years. Can consider some uninsured/underinsured subcontractors if less than 20%.

  • $1,000,000 Each Occurrence
  • $2,000,000 General Aggregate (other than Products/Completed Ops)
  • $2,000,000 Products Completed Operations
  • $1,000,000 Personal and Advertising Injury
  • 100, 000 Damages to premises rented to you ($300,000 for commercial projects)
